SKM HOSPITAL WITH INTERBURNS

SKM Hospital and Interburns: Pioneering Advanced Burn Care in Nepal

At SKM Hospital, a seamless blend of international expertise and local commitment has given rise to one of Nepal’s most advanced burn care centers, known as Interburns. Born from a dynamic partnership between Interplast Germany e.V. and the Sushma Koirala Memorial Trust, SKM Hospital has long been at the forefront of providing specialized care for burn injuries, setting a benchmark for excellence in both acute treatment and long-term rehabilitation.

Interburns represents more than just a facility—it embodies a comprehensive, state-of-the-art approach to burn management. The program addresses not only immediate medical stabilization with innovations such as advanced wound care, debridement, and surgical reconstruction but also emphasizes rigorous postoperative rehabilitation. This ensures that patients can regain mobility and reclaim their quality of life after enduring severe burns and their lasting effects.

The success of Interburns is bolstered by our dedicated multidisciplinary team, which includes burn specialists, reconstructive surgeons, internists, and highly trained nurses. Many of these professionals have benefited from continuous training programs led by experts from Interplast Germany e.V., keeping them at the cutting edge of modern burn treatment techniques such as microsurgery and tailored wound management. Their ongoing education forms the backbone of our integrated care model—from the moment of admission in our specialized intensive care unit to the long-term rehabilitation efforts that foster complete recovery.

Through Interburns, SKM Hospital delivers compassionate, high-quality care to thousands of burn patients every year. Our commitment to excellence and innovation in burn care not only transforms individual lives but also serves as a beacon of hope and resilience for the entire community.
